Day 59

There are two types of people in this world: those who are reactive and those who are proactive. 

This quote (and the video it is from, linked above) seriously resonated with me tonight. I was feeling so stressed and as though I was running out of time, and when I finally decided to take a much-needed study break, I watched this video and thought…wow.

You see, in a given situation — a bump in the road, a task, a setback, a choice — you can either choose to be reactive or proactive. And during college finals, it can be so easy to have a tendency to be reactive: to react emotionally and sit there in woe, and not want or try to do something about it.

But what is important about finals is the choice to be proactive, to take the tasks at hand and turn them into actions, to actually do something to combat your stress by getting your life together and getting things done one by one until suddenly your to do list isn’t as long anymore.

So I challenge myself to stop being so reactive to situations that stress me out and start actually living my life proactively. Who’s with me?
